“The team is friendly and supportive. I have Caribbean heritage and it makes all the difference to me that I am liaising with Black artists and getting the feeling that anything is possible for me."
"It’s been great for the staff and users in so many ways. Our regular ESOL group viewed the show, and it became the topic for their language learning, as they were able to use more expressive language rather than the functional literacy that is usually practiced."
"I wanted them to see that Black History is not just about Martin Luther King and slavery. I loved this exhibition as it included works by British-Nigerian women like me. I’d never seen an exhibition like this before and the fact that it was in a library made it easy to visit."
"We are very excited to be working with Sukai Eccleston and CasildART as part of ‘Some of Us are Brave’. This is such an important project that can bring the inspirational and diverse work of these amazing trailblazing artists to the fore. This exhibition challenges the status quo within our society and the artworld. Sharing these works so our local communities here in Oxford get to see and experience them is such a joy and privilege."
"ArtCan is delighted to be working with CasildART and Kroll in delivering this exciting virtual exhibition. Sukai Eccleston’s curatorial vision and passion for supporting contemporary artists has resulted in a unique exhibition platform. This is especially important in these times of COVID-19 and perfectly matches ArtCan’s ethos for enabling artists to gain experience outside of the formal gallery format. The theme is especially pertinent in today’s society and we look forward to exploring the creative conversations it generates."
"Some of Us are Brave - a truly inspirational phrase and collection of essays that perfectly represent the power and vibrancy in this exhibition. Thanks for putting all this together."
"Thank you, Sukai, for sourcing these two amazing artworks for our home."
"A beautiful exhibition, amazing and insightful pieces and eloquently curated. Thank you."
